Led by Music Director Dr. James Spinazzola and Associate Conductor and Conductor of Chamber Ensembles Mr. Darin Sorley, the Indianapolis Youth Wind Ensemble consists of an auditioned band of outstanding high school musicians and various chamber music ensembles comprised of members from the full ensemble. The Indianapolis Youth Wind Ensemble rehearses each Sunday from August through May at the University of Indianapolis from 3:00 - 6:00 PM (chamber ensembles from 3-4pm) and performs four concerts throughout the year. The IYWE program is designed to provide students with an excellent learning opportunity allowing them to explore their musical abilities and expand their knowledge. This serves as an enhancement of participation in their school music program.

2009-2010 Season Auditions



Auditions for the 2009-2010 Indianapolis Youth Wind Ensemble season will take place on the following dates:

Saturday
June 13, 2009
9am - 12pm and 1pm-3pm

Sunday
June 14, 2009
1pm - 3pm

All auditons will take place in the Ruth Lilly Performance Hall, Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, at the University of Indianapolis.

Students will perform a prepared piece (ex. an ISSMA solo) highlighting contrasting styles and will be asked to perform major scales up to 4 sharps and 4 flats. Sightreading is possible.
